Emphasis for this class is on fun and teaching Hula and Tahitian basics. Some implements may be incorporated into the dance routines.

Beginner Hula (ages 13-99)
Don't be shy! Just come and have fun! Learn all the basic hula steps with easy to follow instructions. Dance combinations will sometimes incorporate instruments but will always tell a beautiful story through dance. You'll be dancing before you know it, while burning calories and toning your hips, thighs and abdominals!

Adult/Teen Tahitian
Instruction in Tahitian Otea (Drum beats) and Aparima (kiss of the hands/or story telling). Basic and advanced Tahitian dance steps and hand movements. This builds a strong foundation for the dance and is also a terrific workout for all! In addition to steps and hand movements, choreographed dances will be taught.

Hula Intermediate–Adult (ages 13–99)
More complex hulas and some Tahitian Aparima taught in this class. Some instruments may be incorporated into dance routines. Emphasis on footwork, hands, and facial expression.

Halau Pu’uwai Uhane O’ Hawai’I (Women ages 17–99)
Hula Kahiko and 'Auana including Hapa Haole. Students are expected to be able to understand and in some cases sing or speak the words to the songs. Emphasis is on the cultural significance of hula. Precision and uniformity is stressed above the amount of routines learned. (Halau is not for drop ins).

Tahitian Aparima
